Multiplexer: What is it? (And How Does it Work) | Electrical4U
This is known as a multiplexer tree or a chaining multiplexer. For example, an 8to1 multiplexer can be constructed by cascading two 4to1 and one 2to1 multiplexer. The output of the two 4to1 multiplexers is given to the 2to1 multiplexer with the select lines on the 4to1 multiplexers put in parallel that gives a total number of select inputs to 3, which is equivalent to an 8to1 multiplexer.
